Keeping your "fur family" together when you travel to Maui ~ Since 2004

About Us

Maui Direct Release provides 'start to finish' services to clients who are importing and/or exporting their dogs & cats to and from the State of Hawaii, navigating them through the strict regulations, testing and paperwork. We ensure clients follow the HDOA guidelines, paperwork and we perform the final inspections at the airport, upon the clients arrival.

But why...
Hawaii is the only rabies-free state and it's very important it maintains that status. The introduction of rabies would have dire circumstances, not only for public health, but it would have an adverse affect on Hawaii’s unique eco-system, local lifestyle, as well as tourism. Hawaii’s quarantine law is designed to protect residents and pets from potential serious health problems associated with the introduction and spread of rabies. All dogs and cats, regardless of age or purpose, must comply with Hawaii’s dog and cat import requirements. In 2005, the Hawaii Department of Agriculture (HDOA) created the "Direct Release" program. The "Direct Release" program allowed HDOA 'approved' dogs and cats the ability to fly directly into the neighboring islands.

Our moto: We make the impossible...possible. Once we begin assisting you, if you start to experience bumps in the road, it means we're not doing our part to answer all of your questions. Call us, text us, email us... and repeat... as often as you need to. There are never too many questions, and, ask as many questions as many times as you need to. You most likely have the same questions as everyone else, so don't hesitate to ask them. We strive to make the process as stress-free as possible.

"Maui Direct Release" is also partnered with many organizations and non-profits on Maui and Lanai providing small animal care. All services are provided with a licensed veterinarian and licensed veterinary technician.

Our driving force is to help the 'community' on the Hawaiian Islands. The more people we help, the more donations we accrue and the more we can pour those donations back into the community.
